You did read that headline correctly.

In a stunt that has sent Sausage Roll fans into meltdown, Newcastle midfielder Matt Ritchie has won the weekend with a pair of shin pads to beat all shin pads.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert when it comes to what fashion, but Ritchie's wonderful effort ahead of Newcastle's clash against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon is nothing short of iconic.

I mean, thousands queued outside Greggs after the game because of these delicious, melt in your mouth Rolls and I just want to know where I can purchase these magnificent shinnies.

Two goals from Man of the Match Eden Hazard and another Alvaro Morata strike left Rafael Benitez's side in disarray, but the fact that Ritchie was playing out there with a pair of Sausage Rolls in his socks has left a better taste in Newcastle fans' mouths.

Ritchie didn't have the best of games against the Premier League champions and Twitter let him know about it during and after the defeat.

Here's some reactions from social media:

Maybe it was down to the two Sausage Rolls in his socks?

We need a pair of these immediately.
