We just can't stop watching it.

Dumbarton goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom had a debut to forget in Saturday's Scottish League One clash against Forfor after an unfortunate incident involving a teammate.

The 24-year-old former Macclesfield and Alfreton shot-stopper had a nightmare in the 57th minute. In fact, some are calling it the greatest own goal of all time. Let me explain.

After dropping the ball in his area with plenty of time and space, Ramsbottom was eventually closed down by a Forfar player but instead of clearing the ball up field, he booted the ball at teammate Ryan McGeever.

The ball bounced off McGeever's back and trickled into the back of net.

No, this actually happened. Just take at the footage look.

Ramsbottom tried his best to stop the ball with a desperate dive but it wasn't enough.

To add insult to injury, McGeever's unfortunate effort turned out to be the only goal in the game as Forfar left The C&G Systems Stadium with a huge three points in their bid for survival.

Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy was understandably gutted to drop points in such a bizarre way.

"I wasn't expecting a classic but I'm bitterly disappointed to lose the game in the manner in which we did," Duffy told The Daily Record.

"It was a very unfortunate error from Sam and he knows it. You can't legislate from a moment like that. What can you say though, Sam's made a mistake but it's a freakish goal. It's as freakish a goal as I can even remember at any level of football.

"You feel for him because it was his debut, but unfortunately that's the life of a goalkeeper. There is no hiding place."

This will surely go down as one of the all-time great own goals.
