As well as scoring goals for fun during his time at St James' park, the fictional Santiago Munez helped convince a real person to join Newcastle in this month's transfer window.

Newcastle's latest recruit Kenedy has admitted in a recent interview that he doesn't know much about Newcastle United, apart from the 'Goal!' film franchise.

Days after joining the club on loan, the 21-year-old has gained plenty of followers from this chat and we must admit, we love his honesty about the whole situation.

From talking about his crazy neck tattoo that says "forgive me mum for my crazy life." to declaring his love for the GOAL films, this Brazilian winger has opened up about the move in a typically bold interview.

Kenedy admits that he knows little about Newcastle as a club, but realises that the first Brazilian to play for the club was Mirandinha - via The Mirror.

Speaking to Newcastle's official website about the move, the 21-year-old said, "I'm so happy with this opportunity at Newcastle. They've opened the door to me to come here, show my potential and come and play for Newcastle.

"It's a traditional club and Rafa Benítez is a fantastic, amazing coach. Christian Atsu, as well - we trained together at Chelsea and know each other, and he said good things about the club. So it was easy to take this decision."

Benitez added, "Kenedy is a player that we have been following since the summer. The reason we are interested is that he can play in several positions - as a winger, a wing back and also as an offensive left full back, so he gives the team many options.

Rafa Benitez made his first signing of the January transfer window by landing Brazilian winger Kenedy on loan for the rest of the season. and the Chelsea loanee is ready to make an impact after making headlines for all the wrong reasons last season.

Chelsea were forced to issue an apology after Kenedy made some insulting comments about China.

The Brazilian came on as a substitute in the 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Arsenal at the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing, with a brace from Michy Batshuayi either side of a strike from Willian giving the Premier League champions their final win in China.

And he has received plenty of backlash for two particular posts on Instagram story prior the game, with his comments deemed racist and xenophobic by many.

Will Kenedy be a success at St James' park, like his hero Santiago Munez?

Let us know in the comments.
