Comedian Jack Whitehall has revisited an old joke he made at the expense of Liverpool's Jordan Henderson.

With Henderson being named as the Football Writers' Player of the Year today and captaining Liverpool to their first Premier League title ever, some people have been reconsidering their initial thoughts regarding the England international.

Even though the 30-year-old is no way near the level of the Premier League greats, he is no longer the £16 million transfer flop from Sunderland bought in 2011.

But towards the start of his spell at Anfield, comedian Jack Whitehall made a joke on the TV show A League Of Their Own at the expense of Henderson when Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was a guest panellist.

Whitehall discussed the fact that there was a hotel named after him in Indonesia, such was his worldwide appeal.

"The Stevie G Hotel," he said. "I tried to book a room there and they were fully booked.

"So I had to stay at one down the road that wasn't nearly as good. It's called the Hotel Jordan Henderson."

Gerrard didn't seem happy with the joke at the time and was seen to be slightly annoyed on Henderson's behalf.

Whitehall has, of course, changed his mind on the joke, tweeting:

"What aged worse the haircut or the joke? Congratulations @JHenderson and @LFC well deserved. The Hotel Jordan Henderson is 5 star!"

After Henderson's victory, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola thought a Liverpool player would win the award because they won the league, while claiming when his team won the league twice, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk were victorious.
