A fan's Twitter thread has become a viral hit after they painstakingly compiled the best and funniest tweets that footballers have sent out.

Twitter user Pogba Senior has found a collection of classic tweets sent out by a whole host of footballers, both past and present.

Included in the thread are multiple tweets from Derby County captain Wayne Rooney, who produced several hilarious tweets in the last decade.

The 34-year-old former Manchester United striker has his tweet where he accidentally tagged himself when he threatened to beat someone up.

Other hilarious tweets feature Louis Saha trying to reach out to famous Harry Potter novelist JK Rowling and Michael Owen's hatred for films, despite tweeting about several movies he had watched.

The Twitter thread has already amassed over 5,000 retweets and a whopping 25,000 likes at the time of this writing.

Fans have flocked to Twitter and praised the user for creating a "top-tier thread," with one saying that threads have now officially "peaked."

One Twitter user wrote: "2012 Twitter was at its prime."

While user James simply posted: "Simply one of the funniest threads ever on Twitter."
