If you ever need a man for the big occasion, 40-year-old Didier Drogba was, and still is, the perfect candidate to get you that all-important goal.

To back up that statement, the former Chelsea striker did something extra special in Friday night's United Soccer League play-off game against Portland Timbers 2, scoring a 40-yard free-kick - YES 40 YARDS - to send thousands into hysterics.

Drogba gave us the perfect 'knuckleball' technique to bamboozle Timbers goalkeeper Austin Pack, who failed to deal with the sheer power of the former Chelsea striker's set-piece.

The 'keeper has had a bit of a nightmare here, but you can't take away the audacity of Drogba's strike, here.

This isn't the first time Drogba has grabbed the headlines this season.

Before taking a corner against LA Galaxy, former Chelsea striker Drogba approached two lads who were sitting at a table right by the flag behind the advertising hoardings. He wasn't going for a chat.

Instead, the Ivorian grabbed the kid's water bottle and started drinking from it.

Seconds later, Drogba whipped in the corner against LA Galaxy and assisted to make it 3-3.

He ran straight over to the lads, who looked stunned to say the least, and poured the rest of the water on his head while celebrating with the ball boys.

This might just be the greatest celebration ever. Phoenix Rising FC's Twitter account uploaded the following footage with the caption: "Can confirm Drogba told the youngster that they would score on the corner."

There was clearly something in the water in Pheonix that night.

Seven minutes after he celebrated with the two lads, he scored the eventual winner from the penalty spot to give his team a historic 4-3 win in the United Soccer League.

What a man.
