Chelsea's new £500m stadium, to be built on the site as Stamford Bridge, is facing delays in receiving approval due to not only issues surrounding the protection of Brompton cemetery, next door but also because a ton of bats live in the cemeteries catacombs.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council now have to take into consideration how the artificial light from Chelsea's new stadium will affect the hibernation of the bats in the western catacombs.

A statement from the council read, "Little information is provided on the impacts of artificial lighting on bats and how this will be reduced by detailed lighting design."

Various other forms of wildlife call the cemetery their home, but bats are the biggest animal attraction, with many tours taking place there.
