Even during his finest hour, Andy Carroll couldn't escape the long standing injury curse that has plagued his entire career.

You may remember that, on Saturday, Big Mad Andy walloped home an outrageous scissor kick against Crystal Palace and the footballing world rejoiced as they came to realise that, even if you spend a lot of your spare time drinking enough Jaegerbombs to neutralise a fucking gorilla, you can still achieve greatness.

When West Ham fans weren't celebrating Carroll's effort, they were mainly chanting about Dimitri Payet...

Sod it, let's have another look at it:

Somehow, in a feat that's arguably more impressive than the goal itself, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that Carroll finished the game against Sam Allardyce's men with whiplash, suffered during the scoring of the goal of the season contender:

We're not entirely sure how this is possible but in a way it's almost the perfect Andy Carroll injury in that even when he's performing the most glorious feat of goal scoring majesty he suffers an injury usually reserved for people who have been in a car accident.

Never change, Andy.
