Frenkie De Jong Didn't Want His Final Ajax Game To End

Frenkie de Jong wanted his last game in Ajax colours to last as long as possible, so much so that he cheekily asked for the referee to add more time on.

The 22-year old signed off with Ajax with a 4-1 win against De Graafschap on the final day in a result that brought the Amsterdam club their first Eredivisie title for five years.

De Jong wore Ajax's brand new away kit for the first and final time and didn't want his final appearance to end, with his hilarious exchange with the referee picked up by Fox Sports.

Having already received a raucous reception from Ajax fans in his final home appearance, De Jong led 100,000 supporters into a jump at the club's parade a day after securing the domestic double.

The Ajax sensation will be joining Barcelona in a £65 million move from 1st July 2019, after signing a contract for the next five seasons, through to 2023/24.

And the Eredivisie Player of the Season has already fantasised about playing with the one and only Lionel Messi.

I am so excited to see Messi during training, I think I am just going to pass every ball to him!" he told Fox Sports after his final game.

"I won't change the way I am no matter if I will receive more spotlights at Barcelona. I am curious how I will perform there and I am eager to learn from the best around me there."

In February, the former Willem II man explained how Nike wanted him to have his first name on the back of his Barcelona shirt for marketing reasons.

However, the classy Dutchman has elected to go against his sponsor's demands, revealing in an Instagram Q&A that he will play with 'De Jong' in Blaugrana colours.
