Frank Lampard is hoping to use his connections with Chelsea in an attempt to land Mason Mount, one of the club's most promising youngsters, in a loan deal.

The ex-England international took his first managerial position with Derby County, replacing Gary Rowett and signing a three-year deal.

And with a shortage of funds for strengthening the squad because of the need to balance the books at the East Midlands clu, you can expect Lampard to look at loan deals when it comes to potential deals.

As per John Percy from The Telegraph, recruiting Mount for the season is something Chelsea's all-time record goalscorer desperately wants to do and talks have been held - though it's clear the 19-year old has plenty of admirers.

The attacking midfielder has just come off the back of a stunning first season in professional football with Chelsea's partner club Vitesse, where he scored 14 goals in all competitions.

The England Under-19 international won the Golden Ball award thanks to his displays in the Three Lions 2017 European Under-19 Championships and his displays have even captured the attention of England boss Gareth Southgate, who invited him to train with the first-team in the build-up to the World Cup.

Lampard has also been linked with a move for another Chelsea starlet in the form of Kasey Palmer. The 21-year old spent the backend of last season at Pride Park in what was his second loan spell in the second tier.
