No One Can Believe Troy Deeney Wasn't Sent Off Against Stoke City

No One Can Believe Troy Deeney Wasn't Sent Off Against Stoke City

Like the Premier League version of The Mountain and The Viper

Troy Deeney may have slated Arsenal a couple of weeks ago for lacking 'cojones' after Watford defeated the Gunners 2-1 at Vicarage Road, but the Hornets captain may have taken his fighting spirit too far against Stoke City, this afternoon.

Despite their fine start to the season, Watford slumped to a 1-0 home defeat against the struggling Potters, with Darren Fletcher's 16th minute strike enough to secure all three points for Mark Hughes' team.

It would prove to be a frustrating afternoon for Marco Silva's team, who before today had won four of their opening nine league games and sat in sixth place in the Premier League table.

And Deeney would allow his frustrations to boil over during a dust up with Stoke midfielder Joe Allen in injury time.

The initial incident seemed innocuous enough but Deeney soon had his hands gripped across Allen's face as if he were about to perform his own version of The Mountain's destruction of The Viper in Game of Thrones, only at Vicarage Road, instead of King's Landing.

How Deeney avoided a red card for this offence is anyone's guess, although given how clearly the incident can be seen on camera, it could be that the FA reviews the incident and hands out a retroactive punishment to the Watford captain.
