Wayne Rooney rescued a point for Everton, while buying more time for Ronald Koeman who is under intense pressure after a miserable start to the Premier League season.

Naturally, a bunch of managers are being linked with the Everton job with his future uncertain.

Everton shelled out an enormous amount of cash in the summer transfer window. From Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane to Gylfi Sigurdsson, among many others.

But despite the new talent, his side have endured a terrible start to the season. They're faltering in the league as they currently occupy 16th spot. Not to mention a mix bag of results in the Europa League.

Following the string of bad results, former Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has emerged as a potential candidate. And further reports claim ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is also another possible option.

The current Newcastle United gaffer is the latest name to be linked with the Goodison Park hot seat, according to reports via Sports Illustrated.

Benitez is a hero at Anfield after his managerial heroics between 2004 to 2010, which culminated in winning the Champions League in 2005 courtesy of one of the greatest comebacks in European football.

He also won the FA Cup, as well as the FA Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup before leaving his post to join Serie A outfit Inter Milan.

The Spaniard went onto manage Chelsea, Napoli then Real Madrid. Though he returned to England for his third spell after he was appointed Newcastle manager in 2016.

He steered Newcastle to promotion last season, returning to England's top flight as Championship winners.
