While the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsdale have settled into their new clubs with aplomb over the past few months, one former Premier League star believes that Conor Gallagher is the signing of the season so far.
The 21-year-old joined Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea in the summer, but few would have expected his impact on the club to have been as transformative as it has.
Gallagher has already started 10 Premier League games under Patrick Viera, scoring four times and assisting twice in that time.
It's been a superb return from the young midfielder, who previously had loan spells at Charlton and West Bromwich Albion.
Gallagher appears to have reached new levels this season, so much so in fact, that Jonathan Woodgate recently described him as the signing of the season.
The former Newcastle, Leeds and Real Madrid defender has been very impressed with what he's seen thus far, as he explained to Ladbrokes in a recent interview (via Metro UK).
"The signing of the season so far, for me, has been Conor Gallagher to Crystal Palace from Chelsea," said Woodgate.
"He's in my dream team as well, actually. I love the way he plays. I watched a lot of him at Charlton under Lee Bowyer, he's got so much energy, he scores and creates goals. He's a top player.
"Patrick Vieira's style of play really suits Gallagher; he's come in and changed everything tactically, and it's paid off for him - not least because of the impact Gallagher has had in that team since coming in."
Such is Chelsea's strength in depth they have allowed Gallagher to gain valuable experience, as he is playing top-flight football on a weekly basis.
However, Blues manager Thomas Tuchel will have a big decision to make when the youngster returns to Stamford Bridge next year. Regarding Chelsea, Woodgate is also backing the European Champions to claim even more silverware this season.
"I really fancy Chelsea to win the Premier League this year, just because they barely concede. Once they get Romelu Lukaku firing on all cylinders, I reckon they're going to be a monster team," the former England international added.
