Former Arsenal Flop Is Now Banging Goals In For Fun

You may remember Brazilian full-back Andre Santos for the endless ridicule he received for swapping shirts with Robin Van Persie in the Dutchman's first game against Arsenal after his move to Manchester United. Now, with his disastrous spell at the Emirates behind him, Santos has reinvented himself as a goal machine in the Swiss second division.

Arsene Wenger unloaded Santos to Botafogo at the earliest available opportunity, much to the relief of Arsenal fans everywhere and the 33-year-old has now returned to Europe after joining FC Wil 1900 on a free transfer last Summer. And, while the standard of football is hardly comparable to that of the Premier League, Gunners fans will still be startled at Santos' stats since moving to Switzerland.

This season Santos has notched 11 goals in 19 games, a far cry from the 3 in 33 he netted while in North London. We're not sure what's brought on this surge of goalscoring form so late into his career, perhaps the former Flamengo man is making up for lost time or even, say it quietly, angling for a move back to the Premier League? If Emanuel Eboue can do it, why can't he?
