Manchester City defender Pedro Porro claims he has never had a single conversation with manager Pep Guardiola.

Two years back, the 21-year-old signed for the Premier League champions from sister club Girona in a deal worth a reported £11 million.

He then immediately returned to Spain in a loan deal with Real Valladolid, before joining Portuguese side Sporting CP on a two-year temporary deal in August 2020.

Last term, the defender helped Sporting win their first league title since 2016 and was named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Season.

He's been capped by Spain earlier this year but Porro is yet to make a senior appearance for City and does not look likely to do so.

As far as he is concerned, Guardiola doesn't even know he is contracted to City and a permanent move away could soon be announced.

"No, I've never talked to Pep Guardiola," Porro said, as per The Mirror.

"I don't think he even knows they (City) hired me. But they must be aware of what I've been doing.

"I can't say anything, what I can tell you is that next [this] week there could be something big."

Sporting look set to activate an €8.5 million purchase for the player, following on from the additions of Ricardo Esgaio and Ruben Vinagre.

Last term, in Sporting's title-winning campaign, Porro made 30 league starts and was named the league's best defender for three different months over the season.

Porro's comments follow on from compatriot Angelino throwing shade at Guardiola and claiming he was not given a "real chance" when City bought him back rom PSV Eindhoven in 2019.

"Pep has killed me and my self-confidence," the RB Leipzig defender said.

"After my move from Eindhoven back to City, he had already judged me on two pre-season games and then didn't give me a real chance again.

"So, I was happy that I moved to Leipzig and that I am now an integral part of the club."
