An Argentine footballer's reckless two-footed challenge descended a match into chaos as an all-out brawl broke out between both teams.

Social Atletico Television were in action against La Union de Jaguel in the Lujan League final in Argentina's capital of Buenos Aires.

According to an Australian publication, SAT midfielder Lucas Torres pulled off a horrific airborne two-footed challenge on a rival player in the dying stages of the match.

The dangerous challenge lifted the opposition player off his feet before he ended up crashing face-first onto the pitch.

And the challenge erupted into a massive brawl as players from both sides started to wildly throw punches at one another.

Players in the footage, which has started to make the rounds on social media, can also be spotted throwing kicks at one another.

According to reports, the match 'immediately came to a close' and both sets of players were sent to their respective changing rooms.

However, players continued to exchange 'further verbal blows' as they retired to their changing rooms.

Torres has been in hot water before for his antics as he was slapped with a 24-day suspension for assaulting a referee in 2016.

During the incident, the Argentine footballer was shown a red card from the official and he subsequently shoved him in the face.

Four men had to restrain Torres from lashing out at the referee any further, while police escorted the official off the pitch after the full-time whistle.

Torres' latest controversy has even had ESPN brand his challenge as the "worst tackle of the year."

La Union would claim a 4-1 victory over SAT in their match, despite their win being overshadowed by the late controversy.
