Zinedine Zidane revealed whether Cristiano Ronaldo played a part in his decision to quit Real Madrid and how Sergio Ramos handled the news when he was first told him.
The Frenchman called a press conference on Thursday and shocked the football world by announcing that he would be stepping down as manager of Real Madrid after three seasons in charge.
In the conference, the former Real and Juventus player was asked by reporters about key players Ramos and Ronaldo.

Via the Independent, Zidane was asked whether Ronaldo played any part in his decision to step down. He said: "I had the respect of all, above all the players, which has been fundamental in achieving things. The players have nothing to do with my decision, it is about what I think."
He also told reporters of how he told Real's captain about the move.
""I've sent a message to all the squad and I've spoken to Sergio Ramos.

"As always as a person and captain, we have lived a lot together, he respects my decision. He wished me luck.
"He is a leader, a captain and it has been a pleasure to share three more years with him."
Zidane has enjoyed unprecedented success in his time at Real. He won the Champions League three times in a row. His last triumph in the competition was just last weekend, where Los Blancos beat Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev, Ukraine, with goals from Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema sealing the win for his side.
Bale had grown frustrated with being left on the bench for the final and questions marks around his future are nothing new. But where it looked almost certain that the Welshman would be departing the club and moving to another one this summer, that now could all change. Under a new manager, Bale would want to see if he can make an impression and earn a place in the starting line-up on a weekly basis.
