Manchester United could make a shock move for Raheem Sterling if Manchester City's Champions League ban is upheld.

City were found guilty of breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules back in February and were banned from UEFA competitions for the next two seasons.

Their appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport begins on June 8 but should they fail, then their top stars could look to move on.

The Independent have reported that United are 'likely' to move for the 25-year-old despite knowing Spanish giants Real Madrid would be his preferred transfer.

Sterling's ties to United's other huge rivals Liverpool also make a transfer seem highly unlikely, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the player.

The England international has scored 11 goals in 24 games this season and has assisted twice.

United's other targets are also discussed and it's Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho who is most wanted.

The 20-year-old scored a hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund against Paderborn on Sunday to take his tally to 20 goals and 20 assists for the season.

Sancho will likely become United's record signing if he makes the move to Old Trafford as Dortmund are willing to hold out for over £100 million.

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has also been discussed, with he and Sancho listed as 'high priority' targets.

Central defence options include Kalidou Koulibaly, Dayot Upamecano as well as Swansea City youngster Joe Rodon.

One bit of business United have pulled off in recent days is extending Odion Ighalo's loan move.

Ighalo will now stay at the club until January 2021 after United agreed a £6 million loan fee with Shanghai Shenhua for the forward.

United will pay £130,000 of his £300,000-a-week wage and there is no obligation to buy when his loan expires on January 31st.

The Nigerian international has scored four goals in eight games for the Red Devils which includes three in his last three starts.

A statement from Shanghai read: "In view of the uncertainty over the opening of the new Chinese Super League season and the uncertainty over foreign aid policy, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Manchester United have extended the loan for the Nigerian player Odion Ighalo."
