Oh, Loris Karius. The German had probably hoped he was the bastion for Liverpool's 'keeping woes, but that didn't turn out exactly as planned, did it now? And it would seem that more details have come out as to why the 'keeper was shown the exit at Anfield (for now at least).
According to the Daily Mail's Dominic King, Alisson had no problem keeping his other teammates' respect after his calamitous error against Leicester in his debut season for the club.
Karius, on the other hand, can't say the same for his actions.
"Slowly but surely, his [Karius] actions led to trust being eroded and, for some, the video he posted to Instagram in July of him exercising and eating ice cream in California was the final straw," King said.
"That was a time for self-awareness, to keep his head down and work but he continued to make himself a story.
"Alisson, it has already been noted, is an entirely different character. It is why his mistake has already been forgotten."
Many Liverpool fans would have handed Karius a second chance, even after his errors in the Champions League final that allowed Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale to score and clinch the title.
It's unsurprising that Jürgen Klopp was forced to enter the transfer window and smash the world-record fee for a 'keeper -- that's before Chelsea came along in the window and eclipsed it with the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The German 'keeper is currently on loan at Beşiktaş, but considering how Alisson is playing at the moment, the chances are unlikely for him to claim back Liverpool's number one shirt.
