N'Golo Kante rolled back the years for France on Saturday night with a vintage performance - and Chelsea fans are hoping he is back to his best.

The 29-year-old was ravaged by injury last season and was limited to just 22 appearances in the Premier League as Frank Lampard's side finished fourth.

Chelsea have made a number of signings this summer and rumours even suggested Kante could be heading for the exit, with Inter Milan interested.

However, his performance in a 1-0 win against Sweden shows The Blues still have a world class midfielder on their hands.

Fans have reacted to his performance and they're hoping it is a sign of things to come this season.

Kylian Mbappe's first-half strike was enough for the win while Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty late in the game.

Kante played alongside Adrien Rabiot in the heart of midfield, a slightly different role to last season at Chelsea.

However, the arrival of German superstar Kai Havertz means the former Leicester City man could drop back to his natural position.

Havertz arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for ยฃ71 million on Friday and has signed a five-year deal.

The 21-year-old told Chelsea's official website: "I think it is very exciting because Chelsea has very young players and I know some of the players like Timo [Werner] and Toni [Rudiger].

"I have played with them in the national team and they are good friends of mine and so I think this is very good for me. Also that Chelsea have very young players and English players and that is very nice and a big project. Hopefully we can have many successes.

"I want to achieve as much as possible, I try to do my best and of course it is a very big step. For me it is a new country, a new culture and it is difficult maybe in the first two or three weeks, but then I think I just want to play football and have fun with the boys.

"Of course I want to have big success and we want to win titles here. Chelsea is always a big club and they want to win titles and I try to do my best so we can achieve these things."

While a number of big names have arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer, a rejuvenated Kante could prove to be Chelsea's most important player.
