If it's not Lionel Messi that's the best in the world for some, then it's Cristiano Ronaldo for others. If it's neither of them, then it might be Neymar. That vicious cycle continues to play out until another footballer chimes in to throw their name down in the gauntlet.

The latest footballer to step up to the plate is none other than Antoine Griezmann, who has claimed that he can rival the trio and continue to improve his skills.

Press Association

"There are different ways to look at football," he told Diario AS (via the Daily Mail). "It's obvious that I'm a different player to Cristiano, Messi, Neymar or [Kylian] Mbappé.

"I'm at the top, but I can get better. I want to be the most complete I can be. I'm not going to score 50 goals, but I look to help in attack and work for the team."

When he was asked specifically about Messi, though, the Atlético Madrid forward had no hesitation about his ability to rival Barcelona's talisman.

Press Association

"Yes, I think so," he said. "But I know other players will emerge for sure. At that table, there are nice pictures I have, and I enjoy it there, but I know that I can get better."

To be fair to the Atlético ace, he could make that claim with his performances in recent seasons.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign with France over the summer, as well as winning the UEFA Europa League with Atlético.

Even though he has been linked with clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona, he signed a new contract extension with Los Colchoneros in June.
