Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has responded strongly to Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino's comments on winning silverware.

Spurs crashed out of the F.A. Cup on Sunday after Crystal Palace beat them 2-0, just three days after Chelsea denied them a place in the Carabao Cup final.

Following the two cup exits, Pochettino insisted that top-four is a priority and 'winning cups only builds egos'.

But the interim United manager has given his opinion - and it couldn't be any more different.

"If you win trophies, that's a fantastic day for everyone in the club, the best time of your life, because you never know when the next one is going to come," Solskjaer said in a press conference when asked about those Pochettino comments.

"The manager (Sir Alex Ferguson) always said, 'enjoy this, whatever trophy you win, you have just got to enjoy it'.

"I am not here to discuss what Pochettino says and what other managers say. I am just saying that at this club, we are looking to win trophies. We are about winning trophies, of course we are. We're going to try to win the FA Cup.

"We've got the Champions League, we've got the FA Cup, we can't just say top four and that's it. We've got to look if we can win something this year and, as I've said, I go into every single game as a Man United manager thinking we can win this game.

"To be top four, that's not the dream. We're Man United, you should always aim to win the league."

"We can't do that this year, but we've just got to look forward to that again because we have to get back to that."

Solskjaer has had the perfect start to his Old Trafford tenure. The Reds have won all eight matches under his stewardship, so far.
