An incredible compilation of Steven Gerrard's 'pure passing' has seen fans call it the most underrated part of his game.

Liverpool legend Gerrard is one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and had a knack for scoring big goals.

His never-say-die attitude meant he was known for skill going forward and grabbing games by the scruff of the neck.

But a video from Rom7ooo shows Gerrard was able to slow it down and control a game's tempo with ease.

The video shows Gerrard launching cross-field balls for strikers to latch onto for the easiest of chances as well as cute flicks to nearby teammates.

It has been argued the current Rangers manager was rarely blessed with strikers as talented as him in his 17-year stint at Anfield.

Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez were the two standouts and have been named as some of Gerrard's best teammates.

That's seen Liverpool fans claim he should be viewed on the level as former national teammate and longtime rival Paul Scholes.

Former Manchester United man Scholes is unmatched when it comes to technical ability - but he had better forwards in a better team ahead of him.

The Gerrard and Scholes debate is one that's raged for years and other legends have been asked for their opinion.

Thierry Henry told Sky Sports he believes Scholes is better and outlined exactly why.

He begun: "The next one would have been, right behind, very close, Stevie G. But I have to go with Paul Scholes.

"He was just ahead in his head. He made Manchester United tick. Every time we were playing them we needed to find a way to stop him.

"It's true. I think Stevie G comes really close to him. But Paul Scholes would have to win."
