Football fans around the world breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday when they discovered that Erling Haaland is in fact human.

The 20-year-old missed a sitter in the dying minutes of Borussia Dortmund's 1-2 defeat to FC Koln, gifting the three points to their opponents.

A ball across the six yard box from Marco Reus found the striker with an open goal to tap into, but he decided to awkwardly reach across his body with his left foot and ended up not getting enough on it.

The match ended moments later, with the dropped points meaning that Dortmund are third in the Bundesliga with 18 points after nine games - and four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Haaland's miss is particularly surprising after his exceptional form since signing last January. He scored 13 in 15 matches last season, and is currently bettering that rate this time round with ten goals in eight games.

He's also netted an impressive six times in four Champions League encounters this campaign.

FC Koln ended an 18-game winless streak with their victory, thanks to a brace from Ellyes Shkiri. Thorgen Hazard grabbed a goal back in the 74th minute, sparking a comeback from his side, but it wasn't enough in the end.
