FIFA 21 code has leaked online and it hints that there are currently four different players in contention to be cover stars.

Rumours coming out of France had claimed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe would take up the mantle following his appearance in the first teaser trailer for the game.

However, it looks like he could be joined on the cover by Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Felix.

EA Sports announced an official reveal trailer for the game and in the metadata for the YouTube video, all four names appeared along with 'cover star.'

All four names have since been removed from the metadata following intense speculation.

Many think that the quartet could feature across the various menus and modes in the game.

This year's iteration saw players such as Jadon Sancho and Vinicius Junior pop up while players scrolled on the main menu.

It's clear to see that EA Sports have decided to go the way of fresh, young talent for their cover star on a new generation of consoles.

FIFA 20 saw Eden Hazard on the cover of the base game while Virgil van Dijk was on the 'Champions Edition' box.

Mbappe won the World Cup back in 2018 and seems destined to take up the mantle from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the world's best player.

Meanwhile, Haaland's breakout season has seen him swap RB Salzburg for Borussia Dortmund with the 20-year-old scoring goals for fun in every competition.

Alexander-Arnold is an integral part of a Liverpool side that has won the Champions League and Premier League in the last two years.

The one man who stands out is Felix, who hasn't hit the ground running at Atletico Madrid since his £113 million move from Benfica.

Everyone will be watching Thursday's reveal trailer with an eagle eye trying to spot any hints of what is to come.
