England Squad Announced For Friendlies
Gareth Southgate has announced his England squad ahead of two upcoming matches.
The Three Lions face Spain at Wembley in their UEFA Nations League game on September 8, and afterwards, on September 11, they host Switzerland in an international friendly.
England are have some big names in their group of the Nations League. They will come up against the likes of Spain and Croatia.
Following the international retirement of Jamie Vardy and Gary Cahill, here are the players that Southgate has chosen to compete in these matches.
There's a degree of confidence around England at the moment. Everyone expected that they would bow out of the competition early, but they pulled through and earned a spot in the semi-finals of the competition, where they lost to Croatia - the tournament's runners-up.
Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson said of the England set-up.
"Maybe this is the second Golden Generation," he said. "If you look at them they are important players in the Premier League for the different clubs they play in.
"Almost most of them are important in their clubs and if you are important in Manchester City, Tottenham, whichever team it is, then you are a really good player today."
