A solitary England supporter has split opinion online by going to Albania for the Three Lions' World Cup qualifier this weekend.

Rob Pomfret, who claims he is currently travelling in the Balkans, made it to the Albanian capital, Tirana, just ahead of kick-off. Bars and restaurants are open in the country, meaning that he will likely be able to watch nearby.

This has split opinion amongst fans, with some pointing out that Pomfret could be in danger of a £5,000 fine for breaking coronavirus restrictions - that include no foreign travel for tourism.

However, Pomfret says that he left before that rule came in, and has been travelling around the area for some time.

While bars and restaurants are open in the country, there are no fans at the stadium itself. The Albanian FA asked the government if up to 6,500 vaccinated supporters could attend the match, but were turned down.

Policing worries had also put the game in doubt before finally being solved on the eve of the fixture.

Supporters were split on Pomret's actions, with some backing him for making the most of a difficult situation, and others mentioning that the trip may end up costing him a lot more than expected if he is fined.

What do you think? Are his detractors right, or are they just jealous?
