Footage Shows The Frightening Intensity Of Marcelo Bielsa's Training Sessions
If you were wondering just how Marcelo Bielsa has the nickname 'El Loco', just watch this clip of his training sessions with Athletic Bilbao.
Bielsa requested the session be recorded and it makes for utterly incredible viewing. Even in training, the Argentine is so demanding of his team and is constantly shouting at them.
Through the luxury of English subtitles we see an animated Bielsa wearing a bobby hat and hurling a flurry of expletives as he implores players to provide pressure.
It's easy to forget that this is just training where the result doesn't count but it just goes to show how exhausting it must be for those who work with Bielsa.
Iker Muniain and Fernando Llorente, bent over with their hands on their knees, look absolutely knackered as they pause to get their breath back.
The intensity is just frightening and it's the bare minimum Bielsa wants from his players at every team he takes charge of.

One of the drills Bielsa regularly uses is called 'murderball'. It's as mental as it sounds. There's no referee and the ball is always in play in a a hyper-intense, fast-paced practice match.
"You honestly have to see it to believe it - It's something I've never, ever, been involved in before," he told SPORTbible.
"It's just 100%, very chaotic. We do four or five minute segments, maybe four or five times, with staff outside throwing the ball back in as soon as it goes out. It's all man-for-man, there's no escape. But the numbers the lads are putting up in these sessions are ridiculous.
"The games almost seem easier than the training is! And it's not just the murderball, the tactical sessions are so in-depth. We always go on the pitch knowing exactly what rival teams are going to do - and if they were to change, we'd be have that covered as well."
