First Soccer Saturday Panel Of The Season Has Been Revealed

Three of Sky's usual panel have been let go ahead of the new season and we know how will replace them this weekend.

Jeff Stelling will be joined by former Premier League managers Tony Pulis and Tim Sherwood on Soccer Saturday for the first weekend of the new season.

There was uproar on social media a few weeks ago when it was announced that Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas had been let go from the popular panel show, lord knows what they'd have been sat there thinking.

With the first round of matches in the Premier League and Football League kicking off on Saturday it wasn't known who would be replacing the popular trio.

According to the Athletic's Adam Crafton, Stelling will have Pulis and Sherwood alongside him, as well as Glen Johnson, Clinton Morrison and regular Paul Merson, whilst Chris Kamara will of course be at one of the games.

However it looks like fans shouldn't get too attached to the new panel because the line up for this weekend's games won't be how it looks all season.

The report claims that Sky are yet to settle on a permanent line up and will rotate the pundits with others, including Robbie Fowler, Joleon Lescott, Matt Murray and Glenn Murray, who recently joined Watford.

This weekend the panel will only have one game in the top tier to cover as once again games have been spread out to allow them to be all shown on television, as was the case at the end of last season.

Only Crystal Palace vs Southampton kicks off at 3pm this Saturday but they'll be plenty of action from the Championship, where there are nine games kicking off in the traditional spot, and there's a full 12 games from both League One and League Two.

The lowest two professional divisions will be playing their first league games since March, with only the play-offs being able to be completed after lockdown.

Which new panelist are you most looking forward to seeing on Soccer Saturday? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
