FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Introduces New Game Modes And Icons

With FIFA Ultimate Team making up an incredible 28% of EA Sports' revenue last year, it's no surprise that the gaming giant are again placing the mode at the forefront of FIFA 20.

And for FIFA 20 Ultimate Team, EA have introduced a series of new game modes that are wildly over the top but have been designed to make it as fun and social as possible.

FUT friendlies are now a thing so you can play offline or online in non-competitive games. You will still earn coins but your record, fatigue of players or contracts will not be affected.

'Couch Play' has also been brought in for those who like to play UT with and against their friends while they are in the room as opposed to online.

'Max Chemistry' sees chemistry completely thrown out of the window and all the focus on your ability, as well as a feature whereby you take three players from your opponent's squad and swap them into your XI. If you score with a player you nabbed from your opponent, you will get two points.

Then we have 'King of the Hill' - which promises to bring some absolute madness to proceedings.

In a nutshell, you have to control the ball in an attacking zone and continue to keep the ball as the space quickly decreases. At the same time, you get a goal meter that fills - and if you sustain the attack long enough to find the net - you get a specific amount of goals (max three) added to your tally as opposed to just one.

There's no realism involved here at all, but who is arguing against getting an extra three goals when they score?

The most exciting new mode, though, is 'Mystery Ball - which sees a series of different gameplay boosts activated whenever the ball goes out of player. Huge improvements to speed, dribbling, passing and shooting are added to the player in possession - with the deadly 'All Ball' increasing all of the aforementioned attributes.

The former two modes are exclusive to the Ultimate Team but the latter two are also in Pro Clubs and Kick-Off as part of the other House Rules games.

Also in Ultimate Team are a host of new 'Icons' such as Andrea Pirlo, Didier Drogba, Ronald Koeman, Ian Wright, Carlos Alberto and 'Ultimate Edition' cover star Zinedine Zidane, who finally gets a legendary card.

Elsewhere in Ultimate Team, the menus are simpler and much easier to access your club, squad, players and the transfer market, while there's an improved level of customisation courtesy of unlicensed badges, tifos, stadium themes and custom celebrations just for Ultimate Team.

Milestones have been introduced to give the user short-term and long-term goals and extra incentive to win, along with daily, weekly, season and dynamic objectives to bring about more rewards than ever before.

There are also in-depth stats such as per match averages so you can see just how much better at FIFA you are than all your mates.

The head honchos at EA have also acted on feedback from players by changing the way in which matchmaking is done so that there are less kit clashes.

You'll be able to select playing against your opponent in your other kit for a guaranteed match experience, or the alternate option play against your opponent in one of their chosen kits.

You won't see your opponents kits and EA say they will use logic to determine which pair of kits are least similar and likely to cause confusion.
