Fan's Aaron Wan-Bissaka Thread Shows Exactly Why Manchester United Need Him
Aaron Wan-Bissaka's superb season with Crystal Palace has made him a top target for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
The 21-year-old English right-back made 39 appearances for his side across all competitions and contributed four assists as the Eagles finished 12th in the Premier League.
But the Palace starlet has impressed the United boss and has become a major target for the Red Devils this summer.
One fan has posted an excellent thread on Twitter that shows exactly what the England Under-21 international would bring to United.
With Antonio Valencia leaving in the summer, Solskjær has the perfect time to inject some young fresh blood into his team as he overhauls United's squad.
Grab a brew and have a read below.
Wan-Bissaka has been talked about ever since being given a starting role at Crystal Palace by Roy Hodgson. The 21 year old has been simply unbelievable and the numbers back that up.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
Considering AWB started was a winger all the way through junior football and only moved to fullback recently, his speed and dribbling ability in attack come as no surprise, however, it's his pure defense which makes AWB so special.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
In a time where tackling is slowly dying out of the game AWB is someone who tackles for fun, very successfully.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
Here are some defensive stats from last season:- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
158 tackles (68%)
303 Duals won - 152 lost
74 successful 50/50s
5 shot blocks
52 aerial battles won - 40 lost
His defence is so good that Wilfried Zaha was screaming in anger during a Crystal Palace training session because he couldn't pass him.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
Zaha even said "I was kind of shocked at how good he was. I don't understand how you can go from being a winger to being a right-back. He's so good at defending."- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
In terms of AWBs offense, he has great ball control and is fairly quick. He engaged in 7.27 offensive duals a game. For comparison, Walker and Alexander-Arnold failed to engage in 5 per game.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
He made an average of 2.12 crosses per game with a 33% crossing accuracy. Let's compare once again, with the premier league's "best" crosser Alexander-Arnold who had the exact same crossing %.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
In regard to passing - he made 1,368 passes this season with a 77% success rate. His passing % is very good when you consider Crystal Palace's reliance on long diagonal balls from their fullbacks.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
The only fullback with better passing statistics this season was Manchester City's Kyle Walker who is utilised in Pep's tiki-taka city machine.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
In conclusion, these statistics show that Wan-Bissaka is a different breed of fullback compared to modern fullbacks. He doesn't neglect defensive play in order to attack. He focuses and thrives defensively and then the offensive aspects of his game follow suit.- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
He's been heavily linked with Manchester United with Spurs and City also being named as potential suitors however I only see one result, Wan-Bissaka will be a Manchester United player for a fee of around £50,000,000 in the close future. pic.twitter.com/ZjEdTSgAKQ- TR (@TacticalRole) 10 June 2019
The Red Devils have already made a £40m bid for Wan-Bissaka and Palace have swiftly rejected it.
According to Sky Sports, United are preparing to return with an improved offer for him.
The United boss has already made his first signing of the summer after snapping up Daniel James for an initial fee of £15m from Swansea City.
Would Wan-Bissaka be a hit at Old Trafford?
