Fans are in disbelief over the poor standard of Arsenal's starting XI for the visit of Chelsea this evening.

Mikel Arteta's side host their London rivals in a Boxing Day 5:30 kick-off at the Emirates Stadium but supporters have not been filled with confidence over the team fielded.

For starters David Luiz and Willian are both unwell but COVID negative, while summer signing Gabriel is isolating and will miss the next three games after coming into close contact with someone who has coronavirus.

Pablo Mari starts alongside the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli, with Alexandre Lacazette leading the line in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka anchoring the midfield sums up a side that many deem to be painfully average judging by the reactions to the line-up announcement.

Struggling Arsenal are currently in 15th place in the Premier League, three points ahead of 18th placed Fulham following the Cottagers' 0-0 draw with Southampton today.
