A Liverpool fan tried to rattle Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of his side's 3-1 defeat at Anfield on Sunday.

The defending Premier League champions were dealt a major blow to their title defence and have fallen nine points behind league leaders Liverpool.

But a Liverpool supporter caught Guardiola by surprise when he emerged from the Anfield tunnel by telling him that 'he looked scared.'

The 48-year-old Spaniard responded by saying "sorry" after he didn't hear the fan taunt him twice.

But when the supporter repeated himself to Guardiola, the City boss continued to adjust his scarf before he was caught by surprise from another fan asking for a photo.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss walked away from the incident without offering a response to either fan.

City's defeat to Liverpool has left them in fourth place before the start of the international break.

And Guardiola said he is unsure if his side will be able to catch up to Liverpool in the title race.

"I am not a magician; I don't know the future," he said on Sunday.

"We have Chelsea at home next. We will try to beat them."

Following the defeat to Liverpool, the City boss told BBC Radio 5 Live that there are "three teams that have more chances to win the Premier League than us."

He explained: "We lost -- we'd liked to win, but now we have to rest and prepare for Chelsea next.

"We played an incredible performance, I don't know how many teams can come to this stadium and play the way we did.

"They scored with the first shot on target, but we played incredibly well.

"There are three teams that have more chances to win the Premier League than us.

"We're in November so let's see what happens."

City will return to Premier League action next Saturday when they welcome Chelsea to the Etihad.
