Radamel Falcao Reveals The Hilarious Depths Jose Maria Gimenez Went To Put Him Off His Game

Radamel Falcao has revealed the underrated use of shithousery Jose Maria Gimenez used to pocket him on his Uruguay debut.

Gimenez made his first appearance for his country as an 18-year old in a World Cup qualifier against Colombia back in 2013 in place of his regular defensive partner Diego Godin.

He was up against one of the deadliest strikers in the world in Falcao but was not fazed by the occasion whatsoever.

In fact, he got in the head of the former Manchester United and Chelsea forward by asking him a series of pointless questions during the game, varying from what car he drives to whether or not September had the letter 'p'.

"I couldn't concentrate as Giménez was driving me crazy," Falcao recalled, as per These Football Times.

"He asked me questions. First, he asked me what car I had. When I was explaining it, he had already gone and was waiting to meet a cross. That was only the start. Then he asked me why the flags of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela have the same colours.

"Next he came over to me and told me it was his debut, that he was very happy and that he would get a tattoo of the date of his match, asking me if September was spelled with or without a 'p'. I ended up missing the chance to jump for a cross. He drove me crazy."

There was no shirt-pulling, snide elbows or insulting from Gimenez but his unusual method of throwing Falcao off his game clearly worked as Uruguay kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

Fast forward to the present day and he has made 50 appearances for his country, playing in two World Cups and scoring eight times for Oscar Tabarez's side - the latest goal being his equaliser in the 2-2 draw in today's Copa America Group C against Japan.

We really hope he's continued his knack of chatting shit to his opponents during games...
