In one of the biggest shocks of the international week, Faroe Islands secured a historic draw against France in their European Under-21 Championship qualifier after a moment of madness from Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

It was a quite remarkable game at the 5,000 capacity Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn. With an incredibly strong line-up consisting of Amine Gouiri and Eduardo Camavinga, who recently signed for Real Madrid on transfer deadline day, Les Bleus dominated for large spells.

In fact, it took Sylvain Ripoll's side just eight minutes to open the scoring through Gouiri; the highly-rated striker who has scored three goals in Nice's opening three Ligue 1 games this season. And that dominance continued throughout.

France managed to record a total of 30 shots against Víkingur Gota shotstopper Bardur Reynatrod but they ultimately failed to make their chances pay. In the 54th minute, goalkeeper Meslier misjudged a pass in no man's land and Steffan Lokin capitalised with their only shot of the game.

Just check out the incredible commentary below.

France continued to pepper Faroe Islands' goal for the remainder of the clash as the likes of Camavinga tried to break them down but somehow, after recording 30 goal attempts and 72% possession, the strong favourites couldn't find a winner.

It was a night to remember for those home supporters as the minnows embraced each other after the final whistle.

We're still not sure how the Faroe Islands managed to walk away with a draw in this one. Thoughts on the goal?
