Former Newcastle Player Nile Ranger's Latest Claims Are Surely A Joke?

Former Newcastle Player Nile Ranger's Latest Claims Are Surely A Joke?

Oh wow...

Nile Ranger has claimed that he is talented enough to be challenging the likes of Danny Welbeck for a place in the England squad.

Ranger was a very highly rated prospect in his younger years at Newcastle United, and broke into the Magpies first-team at 2010, where he won several caps for England under-19 caps alongside Welbeck.

But off-field issues seemed to hold him back and cause Ranger big problems, and he hasn't played for any club at all competitively since leaving Blackpool in November 2014.

And with Roy Hodgson now preparing his squad for this summer's European Championships in France, Ranger ruefully insists that he is good enough to be in his plans.

Speaking via The Evening Standard, when asked about how he compares with the likes of Welbeck, he said: "I feel like if I'd behaved myself I'd be up there with them.

"Sometimes I watch Newcastle and know I'd definitely be playing now, especially with how things are going for them.

"There are times where I have seen them play and thought 'I can do better than that'.

"But I can't always hold on to that because it is done now."

Ranger is currently on the comeback trail, and is looking for a new club.

The striker trained with Rotherham at the start of the season but failed to secure a permanent contract and Ranger is determined to get his career back on track.

The 24-year-old added: "I'm ready to get my head down and work.

"Everyone makes mistakes - I've just made more than others. But now I am ready to settle down.

"I've got a nice aura about me. If I made it back into the Premier League it would be a great story - you could write a book on it afterwards."
