He never fails to amaze.

Arsenal striker and future Balon d'Or winner Danny Welbeck produced another classic moment in the Europa League on Thursday night when he accidentally tripped over himself with a botched shot from 25 yards.

In another standard day in the life of Welbeck, he protested to the referee that AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia caught his leg before he 'let rip.'

But replays clearly show that the England international messed up with his shot.

When I say mess up, I actually mean the lad had an absolute nightmare. Welbeck has been criticised in recent weeks and this blunder hasn't done him any favours.

What was he doing?

The Gunners finally returned to winning ways with an impressive victory against AC Milan - after such a poor spell of form in the Premier League.

Wenger's men finally got their act back together and, thanks to an excellent first half which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan open his account for the club before Aaron Ramsey added a second in classy fashion, following a wonderful through ball from Mesut Ozil.

The German, who supplied the two assists in the big 2-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro, reacted to a clip from 'Now.Arsenal', showing the Gunners' No.23 falling over in true Welbeck fashion as he ran through on goal.

The caption read: "Absolutely gutted this didn't go in. Would have been a goal to sum up Danny Welbeck's entire career. #Welbz #BambiOnIce"

And as you can see, there was a cheeky like from Arsenal's German playmaker.

To be fair, Welbeck didn't play badly against the Italian side on Thursday night, but moments like these are starting to become a regular occurence.

Thoughts on Welbeck's recent performances at Arsenal? Is he good enough for a spot in England's squad at the World Cup this summer?
