Kevin de Bruyne and Mo Salah will come up against each other in tonight's Champions League quarter final but just as intriguing is the pair's battle to be the Premier League player of the season.

The Premier League is divided right now. Is the heart of their inevitable Premier League success Kevin de Bruyne the best player this season or is it the league's top scorer and the deadliest left foot around in Liverpool's Mo Salah?

Last season De Bruyne told us who his team of the season was:

It seems almost impossible to split the pair. Salah is ahead when it comes to cold hard stats but De Bruyne is helping his team to title success.

For me it could be as simple as taking one of the men out of their team and deciding what position they'd be in, Liverpool would surely struggle more without Salah and therefore is he player of the season?

For the players who have to vote it may well come down to who gave them the harder time when they came face to face with either men, even the bookies have it close right now.

But what about who the two will be voting for? Well the Manchester City midfielder has revealed in an interview with BT that he voted for Salah to win:

De Bruyne obviously can't vote for himself or any of his teammates and does say that if it's not anyone in his own team then it should be Salah, also name dropping David Silva and Harry Kane as other potential winners.

Interestingly the Belgian has picked Spurs' Davison Sanchez for his winner of Young Player of the Season after the defender has impressed for Spurs this season.

Of course De Bruyne vs Salah will be played out very publically on Wednesday night with the pair meeting in the Champions League quarter final first leg at Anfield.

It could be the perfect chance to really decide who makes the biggest difference to their side!
