Erling Haaland equalled a Champions League record set by Kylian Mbappe by scoring the opener for Borussia Dortmund against Sevilla this evening.

After striking twice in the first leg, the Norwegian goal machine showed clever movement and composure to put his side 1-0 up against the Andalusian outfit after being set up by Marco Reus.

It means that Haaland has now scored nine goals in six Champions League outings this term, as well as 30+ goals for two consecutive seasons.

What's more, he's scored more Champions League goals than Ronaldo Nazario, Zinedine Zidane and Carlos Tevez to name a few.

But even more impressive is the fact that this was his 19th goal in the Champions League - the same number that Mbappe managed in Europe's premier competition before turning 21.

Haaland has done it in 14 games and scored against every opposition side he has come up against.

The pair of wonderkids are the future of football and will almost definitely be tussling it out for individual awards in years to come.

After Mbappe scored a stunning hat-trick against Barcelona for PSG, Haaland hit a double against Sevilla a day later and appeared to reignite a potential rivalry.

"I love the Champions League and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday I got free motivation, so thanks to him," he told Viaplay Fotball post-match.

"He scored some nice goals and I got a good boost from him."
