Emmanuel Adebayor was shown a straight red card for a 'flying karate kick' while playing for new club Olimpia in Paraguay.

The ex-Premier League star joined the 11th club of his storied career when he signed for the Paraguayan side Olimpia in February.

He has yet to score for his new team, but he has made a huge impact in the form of a crazy sending off.

Adebayor received his marching orders after a shocking airbourne challenge on Defensa's Enzo Coacci.

Coacci got to the ball first before the Togo striker steamed into him with a studs first tackle to the head.

Needless to say, Adebayor's reckless challenge sent social media into overdrive.

"I've never seen anything more Emmauel Adebayor than this," one social media user wrote.

A second tweeted: "Lovely to see Adebayor embracing the true spirit of the South American game."

A third added: "He's clearly trying to get arrested so he can set up a 5 a side prison team to rival Ronaldinho."

The 36-year-old took to Twitter to apologise for his "Jackie Chan" challenge.

Adebayor's team went onto beat Defensa 2-1.
