Emmanuel Adebayor could well make a shock switch back to the Premier League this summer.

The Togo striker left Crystal Palace in June 2016 and was without a club until January, when he signed for Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir on a deal until 2018.

The 33-year old scored six times as Başakşehir finished as runners up to Besiktas, and his brief stint in Turkey could come to an end if Swansea City have their way, according to reports.

BeINSports reports that the Swans are interested in signing Adebayor as part of a player-plus-cash swap deal that would see Bafétimbi Gomis head in the other direction.

Gomis, who signed for Swansea on a free transfer in 2014, returned to France on loan with Marseille last season and scored an impressive 21 goals in 33 appearances for the club.

But his fine form is not likely to see him brought back into the Swansea fold by Paul Clement, with the talk being that the club have offered €3 million euros plus Gomis in an attempt to bring Adebayor to the Liberty Stadium.

It's noted in the report that Swansea's offer was knocked back by Basaksehir in relation to the wages that Gomis would command should he join the club.

But a deal could still be struck as it's believed that Basaksehir have made a counter offer, ala FIFA career mode, and they want €5.5 million plus Gomis if Adebayor, said to be happy in Istanbul, is going to return to English football.

As per BeINSportsTR Swansea are weighing up the proposal from Swansea and will get back to them in due course.

Should Adebayor end up signing for Swansea in the transfer window, they will become his fifth Premier League club, following his spells with Arsenal, Manchester City, Spurs and Crystal Palace.
