With his formidable form this season, it's no surprise that Mohamed Salah has become a national treasure in his native Egypt.

Yet even the 'Egyptian King' himself must be astounded at the lengths "dozens of fans are going to see him in the flesh.

According to Maher Shetay, Mayor of Gharbia Governorate's Ngregg Village, via Egypt Independent, several Salah-mad Egyptians have forked out around LE30,000 (£1200) for a ticket to see the 25-year old take on his former club Roma in the Champions League semi-final first leg on April 24 at Anfield.

On top of that, they've paid out on flights and accommodation to show support for their country's talisman for the huge clash.

Tickets for the first leg sold out in quick-time, meaning hundreds of Egyptians missed out on the chance to see their hero do his thing.

However, there will still be a strong presence from the African country when Salah and co. rock up next week.

Salah, being the top bloke he is, will likely produce some type of gesture for the travelling supporters.

Having bagged a total of 40 goals in 45 games, as well as scoring the all-important goal that sent Egypt to their third World Cup, Salah is adored by his compatriots.

His popularity has soared so much that when it came to the presidential elections, some people decided to cross out candidates and vote for Salah.
