EA Sports Temporarily Reduce Max Price For Emiliano Sala After Shameful Price-Fixing

Some FIFA players cruelly cashed in on the tragic turn of events...

EA Sports have decided to temporarily reduce the maximum price for Emiliano Sala items on FIFA 19 Ultimate Team after some players tried to profit from the tragic situation.

The 28-year-old Argentine was travelling back to Cardiff after saying goodbye to his former teammates at Nantes but the aircraft went missing over the Channel Islands.

A thorough search from Guernsey Police is still ongoing, though it is looking increasingly unlikely that the player and pilot will be found alive.

The outpouring of support from the football community across the world has been incredible, but a small minority of people tastelessly decided to make an in-game profit on Ultimate Team.

Sala's 78-rated card was going for around 800 coins before the tragic incident emerged, but his price was then increased to 10,000 coins.

EA condemned the actions of those that 'price-fixed', with 'Mr Zaro' confirming all of Sala's items have been temporarily reduced on Ultimate Team.

Fair play to EA acting on it but unfortunately this isn't the first instance of these kind of thing happening. Only last year, some players cashed in Davide Astori's death on the game and there was talk that he would have to be removed from FIFA 18 as a result.

They kept the late former Italy international in the game, though they made it so Astori items were not available in packs.

"FIFA Community, Along with the entire football world, we are saddened by the passing of Davide Astori," a message players were greeted with read on the game.

"After consulting with Fiorentina since Davide's passing, and to ensure we best honour his legacy, we will be taking the following actions:

"At the request of the club, Davide Astori will remain in the current Fiorentina squad in FIFA.

"Davide Astori FUT items will no longer be available in packs. The max price range of Davide Astori FUT items will be reduced.

"We again send our sincerest sympathies to the family, the entire Fiorentina club, and his fans all around the world.

"The FIFA Team."
