Dwight Yorke believes that Manchester United have a squad that is capable of winning the Premier League.

The Man United legend believes there is enough quality at Old Trafford to mount a title challenge and made the eye-catching claim that the club's midfield is stronger than Liverpool's.

The former Trinidad & Tobago skipper also had to be reminded that it was James Milner who played alongside Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson in the Reds' 5-0 win at Old Trafford.

"I think we have a squad of players capable of winning the Premier League. Are they playing like champions? No," he told talkSPORT.

"I think you have to go back to three or four seasons to Leicester when they won the Premier League. You look at the players they had and we have a squad that is very much capable of winning the Premier League.

"When you have the likes of Sancho and Marcus Rashford not being able to get into the team, and you talk about us not being strong enough? I don't buy that.

"We have a fantastic squad, we strengthened in defence, we have a fantastic goalkeeper, we've got attacking fullbacks.

"People talks about the midfield, but you can't have a perfect team.

"I look at Liverpool's team and, no disrespect, but they are playing with Jordan Henderson in midfield, Naby Keita and... I can't even remember who played alongside them when they beat us."

After being reminded that it was indeed Milner who completed Liverpool's trio in central midfield, Yorke reiterated that United's quality should translate into much better results on the pitch.

"It was Milner, yes.

"That's obviously no disrespect to Milner and the other players, they are quality players, but you'd fancy playing against them.

"You're never going to get a perfect 11, but people have to raise their game to win Premier League.

"We've got the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, World Cup winners in Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane, so it's just crazy that we are where we are. It's really heart-breaking at times to watch, it's hard to take.

"The situation is not really great; I have to be honest about that. Ole and the players must know that, the fans know that, anyone that knows anything about football knows that.

"Where do we go from here? Do you trust the manager still to take us forward? The board have some tough decisions to make, but until then we, as ex-players and ambassadors, have got to support Ole all the way."

United return back to action after the international break with a match away at Watford on 20th November.
