Liverpool had another memorable night under the lights at Anfield on Wednesday following their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, but it wasn't just the action on the pitch which was grabbing the media's attention.

The Reds' fans were voicing their displeasure against the current Conservative Government, and a Dutch commentator couldn't help but join in with the chant that you definitely wouldn't expect to be repeated live on TV.

It was something which sparked plenty of reaction on social media, but some questioned what the expression would mean to potentially bemused viewers tuning into the match back in the Netherlands.

Leicester were leading the match 3-2 at that point, with Jurgen Klopp's side facing elimination from the competition, perhaps adding to their frustration on the night.

But the red half of Merseyside was left in ecstasy when Takumi Minamino scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to make it 3-3, before Klopp's team triumphed 5-4 on spot-kicks.

That result means Liverpool will face Arsenal in a two-legged semi-final tie, with the German calling for this to be a one-off match due to the hectic fixture schedule.

Klopp's side will not be in action on Saturday, with their home match against Leeds United postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak within Marcelo Bielsa's squad.

The Reds are currently due to face Leicester again on Tuesday, whose match away at league leaders Manchester City is currently planned to go ahead as originally scheduled on Boxing Day.
