From finishing 17th with Southampton and being criminally underutilised by Mark Hughes to becoming one of the most in-form players in Europe this season, Dusan Tadic has experienced quite the change in fortunes of late.

Brought back to the Eredivisie for just £11.4 million by Ajax, he's been in sensational form both domestically and in European competition.

Last night, in the thrilling 4-2 win over Vitesse, Tadic struck two penalties and laid on a lovely assist for Hakim Ziyech's 20th goal of the season.

Ziyech has contributed to 40 goals this season - which is a seriously impressive tally - but his numbers have been made to look fairly ordinary by his own teammate.

That's because according to Transfer Markt, Tadic has an incredible 55 goal involvements - made up of 34 goals and 21 assists in 51 games in all competitions this term.

The 30-year old has been playing as a 'false nine' under Erik ten Hag and the positional change has been a complete and utter masterstroke, with Tadic's form so good that he's genuinely on his way to being in contention for the Ballon d'Or award.

Ajax have notched a ridiculous 160 goals in all competitions and with at least five games remaining in all competitions, there's plenty of opportunities for both the club and Tadic to improve their goal total before the season is over and done with.

And it's not as though Tadic has been 'stad padding' back in Holland. He has produced in the biggest club competition in the world, with three goals and three assists in Champions League qualifying before a further six goals and three assists followed in Ajax's glorious run to the semi-finals.

In March, his world-class performance in the stunning Champions League round of 16 second leg victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu saw him become only the ninth player to receive the coveted 10/10 rating by L'Équipe since 1988.

The French newspaper are renowned for being extremely harsh markers but had no choice but to give Tadic the optimum score courtesy of his insane display, which comprised of two glorious assists inside 20 minutes.

He completely mugged off Casemiro with a filthy roulette in the build-up to his second assist and then followed it up with a wonderful curling strike past Thibaut Courtois in the second half.

What a difference a year makes.
