The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 Carabao Cup draw will be made this Thursday at a Morrisons supermarket.

This morning the EFL revealed that on 20 June 7pm at the Colindale Morrisons branch, not far from Wembley Stadium, John Barnes and Ray Parlour will be tasked with selecting the 35 fixtures in the first round of the competition.

Fans will be able to watch the ties being made in store or online on the official EFL channels.

"Often unique and unpredictable, the Carabao Cup continues to fly the competition's flag across the globe as teams discover their fate in draws held worldwide," a statement from the EFL read.

"From Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City, the 2019/20 Round One draw now stops at a popular London supermarket chain."

There have been some dramatic changes to the League Cup and the way in which draws have been done in recent years but this one absolute takes the cake.

However, Arsenal hero Ray Parlour is excited about the prospect of merging a shopping trip with the first draw of the season.

"I always enjoy watching the Carabao Cup so it's great to be involved in the Round One draw," he said.

"Hosting the draw in a supermarket as fans go about their daily lives provides them with a great opportunity to engage with the competition and I can't wait to see who will be crowned Carabao Cup winners this season."

The Carabao draws in 2017 saw a number of mishaps in the first three rounds, including Charlton Athletic being drawn twice and the third round then being made at 4:15 UK time because it took place in China.
