Donald Trump Was Reportedly Close To Buying A Football Club At One Point

Things could have been very different...

Recently elected United States president Donald Trump could well have been running a football club if things had gone difficulty.

According to the Daily Record, back in 2012 when Rangers were under immense financial difficulty, Trump seriously considered purchasing the club.

Trump was apparently looking to improve business links and at the time had plans to open a golf course in Aberdeen. The opportunity to help Rangers came about and though Trump and his entourage were interested, it never came to fruition when they found out further details in the club's financial situation.

A source for Trump provided reasoning for why he did not buy the club at the time.

He said:

"It just did not make sense to us, although they are a great club. We hope someone steps in and builds the team again."

Someone else took on the role of getting Rangers back to the big time, where they currently lie in third place. Trump is probably a bit busy to run a football club now. He will be running the United States instead, though clearly a lot of people are not happy about it.
