There was a strong belief that Diego Costa would leave Chelsea in the January transfer window after a falling out with boss Antonio Conte, but the striker was brought back into the fold after clearing the air with his manager.

However, he does now look set to leave the club when the summer window rolls around - with reports in Spain indicating that the Spain international has an agreement in place with a Chinese Super League side.

Spanish radio station Cadena Ser are reporting that Costa's move to China is tied up and that he will rake in a massive €30 million per year in the Far East.

According to Spanish journalist Manu Carreno, the deal for Costa to go to China is "total and absolute" though the club have not been named.

Tianjin Quanjian, managed by Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro, were heavily linked with a move for the former Atletico Madrid man in January.

Should Costa swap England for China as expected, he would become one of the very best paid players in world football, following on from Carlos Tevez, who is earning big bucks in China with Shanghai Shenhua.

He would also join former Chelsea teammates Oscar and John Obi Mikel in playing in the Chinese Super League.

It would certainly come as a huge blow for Chelsea as Costa has been the main man at Stamford Bridge since joining for £32 million from Atletico Madrid in 2014.

The 28-year old has struck 15 times in the Premier League this season for Antonio Conte's side, making him joint top scorer along with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez.

But Chelsea are said to have a replacement in mind for Costa. They see Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as the perfect candidate to fill the void that Costa will likely leave, while Celtic's Moussa Dembele is also a summer target.
