Whyte's championship plans took a major hit on Saturday as he suffered a shock loss to Povetkin at 'Fight Camp'.

He lost his WBC mandatory status after succumbing to Povetkin's brutal uppercut in the fifth round.

And 'The Bronze Bomber' posted a mysterious message on Twitter in reaction to Whyte's second professional defeat.

On Twitter, he wrote: "I Believe In Glaz Za Glaz!!!"

In Russian, it translates to: "Eye for an eye."

Wilder hasn't fought since his crushing defeat to Tyson Fury in February.

The American is set to meet Fury for a third time later this year but talks over a trilogy bout have stalled.

'The Gypsy King' also has a commitment to unified champion Anthony Joshua after they agreed a two-fight deal.

'AJ' weighed in on Whyte's defeat, too. He said: "I asked Johnny (Nelson), 'Does Dillian still have that instinct in him?' Because the fight was called maximum violence.

"When he had the opportunity to take him out, I wanted to see that maximum violence.

"That's why for me, when I smell blood, I go in there to take someone out, but sometimes you can get caught in the exchange.

"But at the end of the day, if you leave it a round or two later, as we've seen there anything can happen.

"The tactic go out the window. You've just got to remember this is a fight, you've got to take the man out and move on to the next."

The WBA (super), IBF and WBO title holder added: "Dillian spent months and months in Portugal training and something like that can happen.

"But I feel like the training doesn't add up to this fight with Povektin, he's got another how many years in the sport.

"This is just a blip in the career. People are going to talk all sorts of stuff about Dillian.

"Dillian is a fighter, I stick with him as fighter and say, 'dust yourself off, get back up, and go again.'"
